Busy Day

Here is what our day looked like today:

6:15am - Hugo and Kyrie wake up, so I guess it's time to start the day.
8:30am - Head out to Froedtert
9:00am - Appointment with Oncologist
10:00am - Appointment with Radiation Oncologist
11:00am - Tracer injection (via IV) for bone scan
11:30am - CT Scan - which was so backed up we waited for 1-1/2 hours
1:00pm - Meeting with Family Life Counselors
1:30pm - Meeting with various nurses and surgeons walking in and out of the room (I really can't remember much about this time)
3:00pm - Bone Scan
3:45pm - Finally finished for the day and heading home
4:00pm - Children arrive home from school
5:00pm - dinner (thank you for the help, Mom!)
6:00pm - Kyrie to soccer, Lari violin practice, get boys ready for bed
6:45pm - Boys in bed
7:30pm - girls in bed
8:00pm - phone calls, followed by some much-needed mindless television comedy.

It was a long day. But, what really sticks out in my head is just how wonderful everyone at Froedtert is. I can't believe how much time each and every individual takes explaining everything to us and answering any questions we may have. No one seems like they are in a hurry and everyone smiles and says positive things. It's really amazing.

Just as everyone in our lives is really amazing.  I came home today to frozen yogurt (and sorbet for the allergy-boys -- thank you, Sue!), new sheets and a pillow from my sister, new outfits for everyone in the family for a family photo from my sister-in-law, and several letters and cards in the mail.

I hate that my family is going through this.  I cannot even begin to describe how much I HATE it (and that is not a word allowed in my house), but I am so grateful for all of the love and care we feel from everyone in our lives. Amazing is the only word I can find for it.  Thank you.

  1. Ugh - what a day you had, Kel (and Matt). Thank you for letting me be one of the phone calls you made last night as it felt so good to talk with you...and cuss a little.

I HATE (and that is not a word allowed in my house, either) that you are going through this, but am so happy to hear how many people have reached out to you already. You have spent your life paying it forward and now it's time for you to accept that others want to reciprocate the actions, as uncomfortable as it may make you. We are all here to help and support you, Matt, and your four wonderful children.
